Resolved Question: I really like this girl... what should i do?

At the moment she's a really good friend of mine as we get on really well, and i want to take things further, and though we don't go to the same schools, we usually visit each other at weekends and on random days/holidays. i know i definitely love her now, and in example, i saw a picture of her on her blog, and realized how stunning she was! trouble is her 12 year old boyfriend (i'm 14, she's 13) is in that pic too... they've been going out for about a couple of months or so now, but no-one seems to think it will last ( i secretly hope not!). she told me that a few people at her school do not like their relationship and have tried to break them up... good for me right? wrong. they failed. she seems to like me, but i'm not sure if it's much. for example, we always make each other laugh, and she always laughs at my jokes. she always makes fun of herself, at how blonde she is and i joke too, but re-assure her and try to make her feel good about herself. we both like all the same things, and we enjoy hanging out and all that, but i'm afraid of asking her out / telling her how i feel. i told her once anonymously how i feel and i keep dropping subtle hints, but i dont want to ask her out or anything cos a) she has a boyfriend, and b) i really REALLY don't want to ruin our friendship or make her think differently about me in a bad way... p.s. she's not ACTUALLY blonde, she just jokes that she has the mental side. and where as she is really pretty, i mainly love her personality. They other day, she actually told me i'm one of the only ones she can have a good laugh with, and she asked me if i wanted to go to this upcoming fair with her (they're pretty big fairs this time of year in france) and she was also joking how she was loads taller than her boyfriend. she actually doesn't speak that much of him... she talks about her friends and she's talked to her friends about me. (they say apparently alot) but she doesn't mention him all that much... except the fact she told me he went on holiday with about a couple of days warning to her, and that he is quite alot smaller than her. (We're both 18, high school seniors.) A few months ago, he used to sit behind me in class... and he used to mess with me, like talking to me about random things, poking me, scooting my desk, etc. For awhile he seemed to show some interest. Now he doesn't sit behind me anymore... in fact, he sits on the opposite side of the room and his back is to me, so we can never really talk. So, here's what has happened: About two weeks ago, I was sick for a few days. I "needed to get my homework" so I had a friend ask him what I missed. What she reported to me didn't seem right, so I figured it would be a good opportunity to call him. I didn't have his cell number, so I called his house and left a message. About 10 minutes later, I get a text from him telling me the homework. We texted back and forth like 3 times just about homework, and I thanked him, etc. So then the next day at school... he says nothing to me. He acts like nothing happened! So I had a friend tell him I liked him on facebook. He had NO reply. And again, no reaction at school. THEN... I went to his work to see him, pretending I didn't know he worked there. When this happened, oh my gosh! He was like a different person. I walked in there all awkward and nervous, and he called my name, stopped what he was doing, and came over smiling. I rationalized it in my head that he didn't have to do that. He could have politely smiled or waved and continued what he was doing. But he didn't. He said my name, smiled, and made a point of coming over and talking to me... at a time when I'm sure I looked nervous and unapproachable. By the way, I'm figuring that he knew I liked him by this time. So then, the next day at school... nothing again! What??!! He was back to basically ignoring me. I have no idea what that was about. So yesterday I hung out with my friend (the one who told him on facebook) and she has been bugging me to ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. She texted him yesterday and asked if he had a date yet... and he replied by saying that he wouldn't be attending this year because he was going to France. Okay?? Lol. Pretty random answer, but whatever. So later, I texted him saying... "So... I hear you're going to France? :)" hoping that it would imply that I was the one who wanted to ask him to Sadies. And because I legitimately want to know why in the world he's going to France. And I got no reply. I have no idea what's going on here. (Kudos if you followed all of that... I apologize if it was jumbled.) Is he interested or not? I am getting seriously mixed signals here. basically i am in Love with my best friend, who i've been sleeping with for a few months, and he says he loves me too, and wants to be with me. only problem is....he has a girlfriend who he's been with for a year! i know it sounds bad, but neither of us ever planned for it to happen, we're so close and really do talk to each other about everything. it just felt so right. problem is, we really may aswell be in a relationship, we spend everyday together, every night together, we hold hands, go clubbing together (where he tells everyone he's my boyfriend) even underwear shopping together!. my parents love him, and his like me. the worst part for me in all this is that im even faithfull to him! when we go out if another lad comes anywhere near me, he goes mad! he even gets jelous when he hears about someone i slept with 2 years ago and says it bothers him! it just hurts so much the fact i have no one who will commit to me! it upsets him to see me with random lads. why can't he understand how much it hurts me to hear him tell his girlfriend on the phone that he loves her!! and when i have a bed all to myself feeling so empty inside while he's off with his girlfriend for a romantic weekend. this weekend he went to see his gf, and had sex with her for the first time sinse we've been sleeping together (his argument has always been that he's kinda faithfull to me too) . he told me about it and i just felt crushed. he also said he found it hard to physically do it coz he was thinking of me the whole way through!!!!! i also got text messages all weekend saying what a crap time he was having (their having problems) and how he missed me, and wished he was cuddled up to me. i love this guy to pieces and its hurting me so much that no matter how bad things seem to get between him and his girlfriend he doesnt get rid of her and have me! when he knows he can. it gets compplicated as i've got a job in the South of france for 6 months in April and i guess he doesnt want to not have a GF in the country for that long, which i can understand. i just want him to be happy out of everyhting. i tried to put a stop to everyhting last night so he can sort things out with his gf properly and i can find someone who can commit to me. but when i suggested it he broke, he was so upset i couldnt bear it, and we had sex. im so weak when it comes to him lol. i can't bear to loose him as my best friend as that is what we are, when everyhting else is stipped away thats our foundation and i love it and.....i love him, i really do. what is the answer????????? more

But how did all these people, from so many different countries, end up living here? What criteria did they have to meet in order to gain entry? The truth may explode some long-cherished myths about Canada's immigration history. As late as 1910, those wishing to move to Canada were subjected to a ranking system based on racial origin and how well immigration experts thought they could adapt to life in this country. It wasn't until the 1960s that the Department of Immigration discarded these racial criteria and adopted a more tolerant attitude towards ethnic minorities. But in order to take a comprehensive look at Canada's immigration policy, we have to go back another 300 years. In 1660, immigrant settlement in Canada was mainly restricted to villages scattered along the St. Lawrence River. Most inhabitants were traders, merchants and soldiers and the area was nominally controlled by the French Crown. For years, the colony languished. French authorities considered it a backwater. Some said its only claim to worthiness was the quality of the furs in the region. But this changed when France's arch-enemy, England, fixed her imperialistic eye on the New World. France knew the key to retaining the colony was to populate it. To bolster the predominantly male population along the St. Lawrence, beginning in 1665, more than 700 French women were imported into the colony. Many were impoverished and their expenses were paid by the Crown, which led them to be known as les filles du roi, daughters of the King. This novel approach had the desired effect as the population grew. Then, from 1665 to 1760, another 8,000 immigrants settled in Canada. Nearly all were single men and many didn't care for what they encountered. For every one that remained, two returned to Europe. Canada's early immigration policy was obviously flawed. For more than a century, with the notable exception of les filles du roi, authorities encouraged male immigration. Single men could be transported cheaply, with many working aboard the ships to defray the price of passage. It was rationalized that, without families to encumber them, these men would travel the colony searching for work and settling where they liked. Married men, especially those with children, were considered inappropriate immigrants. It was believed they would abandon the colony rather than subject their loved ones to privation. This attitude changed in the 1750s when Britain tried to colonize Nova Scotia with loyal Protestants. It was hoped these staunch Englishmen would counterbalance the Catholic population in Quebec. It is estimated that 2,500 Protestants came to the area between 1750 and 1780. But of the single males in this group, fully two-thirds disappeared from colonial records. They did not settle in Nova Scotia. They either slipped away to the United States or joined the army. As colonists, they were a total loss. However, among the married men, only one-third did not settle permanently. The British government was quick to realize it got much better value out of families, even though single men were cheaper to settle. This shift in thinking influenced Canadian immigration policy for nearly 50 years. As one historian put it, "families were channels for information and assistance, and an important source of support in adjusting to life in a new location." A prime example occurred around 1815, when a group of Irish immigrants settled in Upper Canada. Once the original group was here, they began writing letters home. They extolled life in Canada as compared to the conditions they left in Ireland. As a consequence, more family members immigrated and so did friends and neighbours. This became known as chain immigration and was quickly acknowledged to be a more effective colonization tool than the random importation of single males. Canada's immigration policy was maturing. For 200 years the primary reason for people coming to this country was the fact that they could get free land. All that changed at the beginning of the 20th century. Labour-seeking immigrants began to outnumber land-seeking settlers. This was amply demonstrated when the railroad was being constructed through the interior of British Columbia. Thousands of Chinese workers came to Canada hoping to earn wages unheard of in their homeland. They were here strictly to earn money, not to take up homesteads. They represented not only a drastic shift in the trend of immigration, but also a dramatic change in the way officials viewed those seeking access to this country. Am I right that it's a fact now? Considering dozens of universities in the U.S., France, UK, Russia, Canada everywhere did face comparison tests of Bin Laden in the tape and a real picture of him and they all turned out to be negative..... You can't make a face over of Bin Laden in the tape to any of his other pictures. Then the linguistic experts looked at the Tape of Bin Laden comparing it with past video's of Bin Laden, they ALL determined it was not Bin Laden, but someone with a Western Dialect, not a Saudi one. ANd they did voice scans..... 100% of them determined it was not Bin Laden... at 100% accuracy... Finally in it He doesn't even act like a Muslim in the Vid, Even though he practices his faith so much that he's an "extremist". For example he's wearing a Ring in the vid= Forbidden in Islam, He starts eating with his right hand...(Bin Laden is left handed).... PAPE HICAGO — Suicide terrorism has been on the rise around the world for two decades, but there is great confusion as to why. Since many such attacks — including, of course, those of Sept. 11, 2001 — have been perpetrated by Muslim terrorists professing religious motives, it might seem obvious that Islamic fundamentalism is the central cause. This presumption has fueled the belief that future 9/11's can be avoided only by a wholesale transformation of Muslim societies, which in turn was a core reason for broad public support of the invasion of Iraq. However, this presumed connection between suicide terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism is wrongheaded, and it may be encouraging domestic and foreign policies that are likely to worsen America's situation. I have spent a year compiling a database of every suicide bombing and attack around the globe from 1980 to 2001 — 188 in all. It includes any attack in which at least one terrorist killed himself or herself while attempting to kill others, although I excluded attacks authorized by a national government, such as those by North Korea against the South. The data show that there is little connection between suicide terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism, or any religion for that matter. In fact, the leading instigator of suicide attacks is the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka, a Marxist-Leninist group whose members are from Hindu families but who are adamantly opposed to religion (they have have committed 75 of the 188 incidents). Rather, what nearly all suicide terrorist campaigns have in common is a specific secular and strategic goal: to compel liberal democracies to withdraw military forces from territory that the terrorists consider to be their homeland. Religion is rarely the root cause, although it is often used as a tool by terrorist organizations in recruiting and in other efforts in service of the broader strategic objective. Three general patterns in the data support my conclusions. First, nearly all suicide terrorist attacks occur as part of organized campaigns, not as isolated or random incidents. Of the 188 separate attacks in the period I studied, 179 could have their roots traced to large, coherent political or military campaigns. Second, liberal democracies are uniquely vulnerable to suicide terrorists. The United States, France, India, Israel, Russia, Sri Lanka and Turkey have been the targets of almost every suicide attack of the past two decades, and each country has been a democracy at the time of the incidents. Third, suicide terrorist campaigns are directed toward a strategic objective. From Lebanon to Israel to Sri Lanka to Kashmir to Chechnya, the sponsors of every campaign have been terrorist groups trying to establish or maintain political self-determination by compelling a democratic power to withdraw from the territories they claim. Even Al Qaeda fits this pattern: although Saudi Arabia is not under American military occupation per se, the initial major objective of Osama bin Laden was the expulsion of American troops from the Persian Gulf. Most worrisome, my research shows that the raw number of suicide attacks is climbing at an alarming rate, even while the rates of other types of terrorism actually declined. The worldwide annual total of terrorist incidents has fallen almost in half; there were 348 attacks in 2001 as opposed to 666 incidents in 1987. Yet the number of attacks in which the terrorists intend to kill themselves along with their victims has grown from an average of 3 per year in the 1980's, to 10 per year in the 1990's, to more than 25 in both 2000 and 2001. And in terms of casualties, suicide attacks are far and way the most efficient form of terrorism. From 1980 to 2001, suicide attacks accounted for only 3 percent of terrorist incidents, but caused almost half of total deaths due to terrorism — even if one excludes as an aberration the unusually large number of fatalities on 9/11. How should democracies respond? In the past, they have tended to react with heavy military offensives, only to find that this tends to incite more attacks and to stir public sympathy for the terrorists without hampering their networks (this has clearly been the case in the West Bank and Chechnya). In their frustration, some terrorized countries have then changed tacks, making concessions to political causes supported by terrorists. Resolved Question: How do you handle an Underwear Embarrassment as a Babysitter?

Today I was a babysitter for three sweet children who are all in the same kindergarten class. Hank and Brook are brother and sister and they are both very outgoing and popular at school. I brought another boy, Cameron, to Hank and Brook's house after school. Cameron is shy and quiet and there was a problem right away when the three kids went on the swing set and it became obvious that Cameron's new kaki shorts were just a bit big for him and his underwear was sticking out. Poor Cameron would have to be wearing briefs with little racecars all over them and this fact was, of course, hilariously funny to Hank and Brook who were sitting on the swings right next to him. I rushed over to Cameron's swing and pulled up his shorts as Hank and Brook stared and giggled. Everything now seemed fine so I went back inside the house but a few minutes later, Hank and Brook were yelling at me to come back because Cameron's underpants were showing again!!!! I raced back over to Cameron's swing and fixed his pants again. It was just random bad luck that Cameron desperately needed a belt and that it happened right in front of Hank and Brook. How would other people have handled Cameron's problem? When Cameron's mom later found out, she says I should have gotten the kids to play a game where Cameron's briefs wouldn't show or get the kids to watch a video instead.
